Announcement: JPT's Electricity Remains Carbon Zero

The UK has some of the highest electricity costs in Europe, which can be attributed to a number of factors, including the country's reliance on imported energy sources and the cost of maintaining an aging energy infrastructure. According to a report by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, the average electricity price for businesses in the UK was 14.8 pence per kWh in 2020, which is significantly higher than the European average of 12.2 pence per kWh. Since the illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Electricity costs have spiralled, with many business paying 6 to 8 times more than these rates.

Despite these high costs, we believe that it is our responsibility as a company to do our part in reducing our impact on the environment. Choosing a supplier that offers zero-carbon energy sources is one way we can achieve this goal. Zero-carbon energy sources, such as wind, nuclear and solar power, generate electricity without producing any carbon emissions. This means that they do not contribute to global warming or air pollution, making them a much more sustainable option than traditional fossil fuels.

By choosing a supplier that offers zero-carbon energy sources, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also supporting the growth of the renewable energy sector in the UK. The UK has set an ambitious target of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, and increasing the use of renewable energy sources is a crucial part of achieving this goal. By choosing zero-carbon energy, we are contributing to the development of a more sustainable and low-carbon economy.

Of course, choosing zero-carbon energy sources does come at a cost. As mentioned earlier, electricity costs in the UK are high, and zero-carbon energy sources can be even more expensive. However, we believe that the benefits of using zero-carbon energy sources far outweigh the costs. By reducing our impact on the environment, we are creating a more sustainable future for ourselves and for future generations.

In addition to choosing a supplier that offers zero-carbon energy sources, we have also taken other measures to reduce our energy consumption and lower our carbon footprint. For example, we have invested in energy-efficient lighting and equipment, and we have implemented a recycling program to reduce the amount of waste we produce. Did you know we have 200kw Solar Generation on our roof space? We have also encouraged our employees to be mindful of their energy use and to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint both in the workplace and at home.

Overall, choosing a supplier that offers zero-carbon energy sources was a crucial decision for us at Just Paper Tubes. While the cost of electricity in the UK is high, we believe that the benefits of reducing our impact on the environment far outweigh the costs. By choosing zero-carbon energy sources since 2019, we are contributing to the development of a more sustainable and low-carbon economy, and we are doing our part to help the UK achieve its ambitious target of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
