Just Paper Tubes at Parliament

On Tuesday 16th of July 2019, our Director, Harry Coates was invited to attend 2019 National Responsible Business Champion Reception in Portcullis House within the Westminster Complex.

The All-Party Parliamentary Corporate Responsibility Group (APCRG) reception was held to celebrate the work of companies from across the UK nominated by MPs as their Constituency Responsible Business Champions. Click here to see the list of nominated companies for 2019.

Just Paper Tubes were extremely proud to be longlisted for the National Responsible Business Champion 2019. Read more.

The event on the parliamentary estate was a great chance to discuss with Members of Parliament and other Businesses leaders about how corporate entities can play a role in engaging our local communities and protecting the environment we live in.

Our Director, Harry had the opportunity to meet Kelly Tolhurst MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Corporate Responsibility.

Baroness Greengross said:

“Every year the standard of nominations we receive from MPs gets better and better. It was very hard to long-list the companies for our award this year and all these companies have done very well indeed to make our short-list. Each of them thoroughly deserved the endorsement of their local MP as their Constituency Champion and I congratulate them all on the excellent work they are doing. These employers, and their employees, can be very proud of their record.”

Jonathan Djanogly MP said:

“I am very pleased to see that we are continuing to receive nominations from MPs for the first time, which means that our scheme is becoming better understood within Parliament and securing the support of more and more MPs. We launched our Responsible Business Champions scheme in 2015 with the aim of encouraging MPs to look at how responsibly companies in their constituencies are operating and to celebrate with us the achievements of the best. It is an excellent way for MPs to encourage responsible business practice and we are delighted to have the support of the Corporate Responsibility Minister, Kelly Tolhurst, for our Responsible Business Champions scheme. We look forward to welcoming her – and Constituency Responsible Business Champions from across Britain – to our summer reception in July, when the Minister will present our National Responsible Business Champion award 2019 to the winner.”

Andy Brown, Head of Sustainability, Anglian Water, said:

“As a company strongly committed to responsible business practice, Anglian Water is very pleased to support this award scheme. The criteria used by the Parliamentary judges to select the National Responsible Business Champion are demanding, requiring high standards from companies across all aspects of their work. These shortlisted companies are all doing great work and I look forward to learning which of them is selected as the APCRG’s 2019 National Responsible Business Champion.”

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our local MP, Nigel Adams for the Nomination, and for the APCRG for long listing us and hosting such a fantastic competition.
